The Town Charter, effective December 1, 2019, expanded the Board of Selectmen from three to five members. A Special Election was held on August 18, 2020 to elect two members to fill the newly created positions. Their terms will expire November 21, 2023.
In November 2021, a First Selectman and two Selectmen were elected to four-year terms.
Responsibilities include the preparation and administration of the operating and capital budgets for the general town government and the supervision and direction of the operations of the Public Works Department including improvements to all highways, bridges public buildings and property.
The Selectmen manage the day-to-day operations of the town, hire and supervise all town employees, and appoint electors to boards and commissions. The Board brings ordinance recommendations to Town Meeting for approval.
