COVID19 Vaccination Phase 1b Expected to Begin Late January

We have received many calls from residents wondering if and when they can receive the COVID19 vaccine. At this point, vaccines are not yet available for the general public. We are currently in Phase 1a of Connecticut's vaccine roll out which includes healthcare personnel, medical first responders, and residents at long-term care facilities.

The state expects to begin Phase 1b later this month.

This phase is expected to include "frontline essential workers," individuals and staff in "congregate settings," and individuals who are 75 years or older.

The state's vaccine advisory group is expected to meet next week on January 14th to further discuss the implementation of Phase 1b. We hope to have more clarification as to who will qualify for this phase at that time. Individuals who are 75 or older may wish to reach out to their primary care physician after that date.

The First Selectman meets weekly with the director of health for the Uncas Health District and will provide updates when vaccination becomes available to members of the general public.
