Extreme Heat Weather Protocol & Cooling Center Information

With extreme heat expected from today, Tuesday, June 30 through Saturday, July 4, the Town of Lebanon encourages residents to take precautions to stay safe and avoid heat-related illness.

Residents looking for a cool place to spend time are welcome to visit the following municipal facilities during their regular business hours:

Lebanon Senior Center

  • Tuesday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Jonathan Trumbull Library

  • Tuesday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Friday, July 3, Saturday, July 4, & Sunday July 5
If you need access to a cooling center on Friday or Saturday, please call Lebanon Town Hall at 860-642-6100 Ext. 1. The First Selectman’s Office will coordinate access to an appropriate cooling location.

During periods of extreme heat:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
  • Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

Please take the necessary precautions to stay cool and safe during this period of extreme heat.
