Governor Activates Extreme Hot Weather Protocol; Cooling Locations Available in Lebanon
Governor Ned Lamont has announced that Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol has been activated effective at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, due to a forecast calling for several days of dangerously hot and humid weather.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions during this period, including staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours, checking on neighbors and family members, and seeking air-conditioned spaces when needed.
The Town of Lebanon offers several locations where residents can cool down:
Lebanon Senior Center
- Monday through Friday
- 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Jonathan Trumbull Library
- Thursday: 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Residents who need cooling services beyond these hours should contact Lebanon Town Hall at 860-642-6100 ext. 1 for assistance.
Town officials encourage everyone to take this heat event seriously and to look out for elderly residents, young children, and others who may be particularly vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
